VFW POST 4639 HOSTS AN AWARDS DINNER FOR STUDENTS

VFW Post 4639 in Williamsburg held an awards dinner on Friday, February 16th, for the winners of this year’s Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen essay competitions.

The students each received a medal, a pen and pencil set donated by Fleming’s Engraving of Williamsburg, and a monetary prize. Winners of the veteran-sponsored (VS) segment

of the competition received their prizes from John Grygalonis, Senior Vice Commander of Post 4639 and co-chairperson of the competition committee; and the

Auxiliary-sponsored (AS) winners received their prizes from Lori Grygalonis, Junior Vice President of the Auxiliary and co-chairperson of the competition

committee, and Shirley Basley, President of the Ladies Auxiliary. The (VS) winners were: Sarah Sensor of Bruton HS – First Place, Matthew Moschel of

Jamestown HS – Second Place, and Greg Magnuson of Jamestown HS – Third Place. The (AS) winners were: Jesse Bryant of Lafayette HS – First Prize,

Tabitha Burke of Jamestown HS – Second Place, and Ashyle Getter-Jackson of Jamestown HS – Third Place.

Hillary Bryant of Toano MS was the winner of The Patriot’s Pen competition.
